About 3 years ago, I decided to devote most of my time to reading personal development books, after having a much-needed wake-up call and getting clear on my dreams, I got inspired by some of the worlds leading entrepreneurs and while I read a lot of great books, something I realized was what we need more than gaining more skills and motivation was to heal ourselves, our mindsets, overcome all limitations and learn a few skills like communication and manifestation.
Whether you’re battling with self-image, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, or just want to understand yourself better and learn how this world works, then move to read personal development/self-help books on success and habits and money-making, these are the books you should start with!
Here Are 7 of the Best confidence Books of All Time
1. Love Yourself, Heal Your Life workbook by Louise Hay
“Based on Louise Hay’s bestselling book You Can Heal Your Life, this interactive workbook is really about change.
It directly applies Louise’s techniques of self-love and positive thinking to a wide range of topics that effect us all on a daily basis, including: Health Fears and Phobias, Self-Esteem, Money and Prosperity, Friendship, Addictive Behaviour, and, Work and Intimacy.”
This is a 200+ workbook where you fill in the information regarding yourself. It helps you dig deeper and confront the dark parts of you. It helps you track how you think of the world and the things you’ve gone through to the main reasons that cause them.
You analyze how the people around you respond to things, and how those responses shaped your life. After filling everything, you are able to pick the right things and let go of the bad things in your life. You heal yourself, forgive yourself, and most of all, learn to love yourself.
2. A New Model by Ashley Graham
“Ashley is leading a new generation of women breaking ground and demolishing stereotypes, transforming our ideals about body image and what is fashionable and beautiful. A woman who proves that when it comes to beauty, size is just a number, she is the voice for the body positivity movement today and a role model for all women—no matter their individual body type, shape, or weight.
In this collection of insightful, provocative essays illustrated with a dozen photos, Ashley shares her perspective on how ideas around body image are evolving—and how we still have work to do; the fun—and stress—of a career in the fashion world; her life before modeling; and her path to accepting her size without limiting her dreams—defying rigid industry standards and naysayers who told her it couldn’t be done. As she talks about her successes and setbacks, Ashley offers support for every woman coming to terms with who she is, bolster her self-confidence, and motivates her to be her strongest, healthiest, and most beautiful self.”
This book is one of my favorites because it talks about self-image from a model, a plus-size model. Through her experiences you learn that nobody size is perfect and they all have their downfalls.
It teaches true beauty, passion, fearlessness and confidence and self-love.
3. The Smart Girls Guide To Self-care By Shahida Arabi
“In order to have healthy, happy relationships with others, we must first cultivate healthy, happy relationships with ourselves and eradicate the toxic habits that deplete us of the self-love and self-acceptance necessary for a fulfilling life.
You may be wondering: How is it possible to banish the browbeating bully inside your own head, influenced by all the bullies you’ve encountered in real life? How do you learn how to be more present in the moment rather than ruminating over the pitfalls of your past? How do you learn to love yourself, despite all of the experiences that tell you you aren’t even worthy of your own respect and appreciation?
Using a patchwork of diverse techniques and practices, The Smart Girl’s Guide to Self-Care answers these questions through a holistic program of tending to the mind, body and spirit in healthier and more productive ways, serving as the portal to immense healing and enabling you to stage your own recovery and victory in ways you never thought possible.”
This book is really unique because it deals with real problems like depression, self-image, self-harm, abuse, and other threatening situations. All situations are explained in detail and you are being guided through. In this book, you will read people’s success stories, and yours should be there too. You will immerge a new soul after this book. After all, if you understand your problem, you’re just one step away from solving it.
4. Beautifully imperfect by Craig Beck
“Do you feel like people don’t know the real you? Do you worry that; if they only knew how much worry and doubt you have inside your head, they would see you differently? Do you feel a lot weaker on the inside than people believe you to be on the outside?
If this book feels like it was written just for you, there is a good reason. Most people are nowhere near as comfortable with themselves as they first appear. Some people doubt their intelligence, the way they look or even their own thoughts.
The truth is, despite what the media says, perfection doesn’t exist and that’s okay. More than that, it’s a perfectly beautiful truth of humanity. This book will show you how to embrace and then permanently release your inner demons. Stripping away all the self-limiting beliefs that have, up until now, prevented you from living the life of your dreams. The secrets of this book will once and for all allow you to accept the real you.
I will show you how to fall in love with yourself, exactly as you are now. You will learn how to: • Overcome self-doubt. • Value yourself correctly. • Stop worrying and start living. • Remove negative influences from your life. • Find your true calling. • Enjoy beautiful loving and secure relationships. • And much more…”
This book is short, but it’s the best kind of short, it treats everything directly and simply. Is teaches you about your imperfections and how to love yourself, it helps you build a relationship with yourself, understand your flaws and love them.
It explains all factors causing low self-esteem and body image issue in the society like the internet and whatnot. If you have issues with self-confidence, self-esteem or have been bullied for your size, looks or disability, this is the book to read. It’s beautiful.
5. Being happy by Andrew Mathews
““Being Happy!” is about why you spill spaghetti bolognaise only down the front of your BEST suit. It’s about why some people always seem to be in the right place at the right time – and how you can be like them. It’s about why you can drive an old wreck for fifteen years and never scratch it … and then dent your new car after two days. It’s about understanding yourself, being able to laugh at yourself, becoming more prosperous and being able to forgive yourself. Features 70 of Andrew Matthews’ cartoons.”
If you want to be happy in this life, you have to read this book. It covers a lot of stuff but it stresses the fact that you have to want to be happy and that you can’t base your happiness on a condition or achievement.
Your happiness starts with your subconscious, you have to own it and choose it. This book helps you understand how success works, chasing your dreams, relationships and more.
Other books by this author are how life works and follow your passion, they are shorter than how to be happy, besides it covers all of them. If you enjoy picture books, he does the illustrations himself and it’s really catchy and fun to read.
6. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
In this book, you’ll learn how to use The Secret in every aspect of your life—money, health, relationships, happiness, and in every interaction you have in the world. You’ll begin to understand the hidden, untapped power that’s within you, and this revelation can bring joy to every aspect of your life.
The Secret contains wisdom from modern-day teachers—men and women who have used it to achieve health, wealth, and happiness. By applying the knowledge of The Secret, they bring to light compelling stories of eradicating disease, acquiring massive wealth, overcoming obstacles, and achieving what many would regard as impossible.
The secret is the law of attraction, when you want something, you think about it positively, and it happens that’s all. The law of attraction, in love, money, happiness, relationships, that’s pretty much it. People’s testimony and proof that it’s all in your head.
7. How to make people like you in 90 seconds or less by Nicholas Boothman
“How to Make People Like You in 90 Seconds or Less is the work of a master of Neuro-Linguistic Programming whose career is teaching corporations and groups the secrets of successful face-to-face communication.
Aimed at establishing rapport-that stage between meeting and communicating-How to Make People Like You focuses on the concept of synchrony. It shows how to synchronize attitude, synchronize body language, and synchronize voice tone so that you instantly and imperceptibly become someone the other person likes.
Reinforcing these easy-to-learn skills is knowing how to read the other person’s sensory preferences-most of us are visual, some are kinesthetic, and a minority are auditory. So when you say “I see what you mean” to a visual person, you’re really speaking his language.
Along the way the book covers attitude, nervousness, words that open a conversation and words that shut it down, compliments, eye cues, the magic of opposites attracting, and more. It’s how to make the best of the most important 90 seconds in any relationship, business or personal.”
This book is not about dressing nicely or talking nicely to make people like you. It’s about liking yourself, liking the people and understanding people.
It teaches small talk, how to listen, and the right body language and also boosting your confidence when talking to people.
On a Final Note:
These are 7 of the best books I have read. I have read a lot more and will always read more to improve myself. These books have helped me really well and what I’ve written doesn’t do them justice.
You can experiment with books, maybe find a writer that inspires you and read his/her book. Contact the writer if you have any questions or need further help. My inbox is always open if you want to talk. Don’t just read the books, you have to implement what they teach you.
You could either get these books from your local bookstore, or from Amazon (all linked above) or you can listen to them instead for free with Audible.
