So you can be a girl boss because you are ambitious.
- You are brave
- You dream big
- You have a purpose
A girl boss to me is any woman who strives, who dreams to make her life and the world better, by improving herself, using her gifts to bring something into this world, to achieve something to live the life of your dreams.
Just that saying, a girl boss adds a unique feminine power to it.
Girl boss habits are not habits specifically for a label or anything, its just habits and qualities that will make any person successful, so don’t feel the pressure of assuming the role of a girl boss who is the standard for achieving goals and living the dream life.
The girl boss is a result because right now you are on a path to achieving your purpose and creating your dream life.
To transition from the life you are living now which is not very clear, you might feel lost at times, confused, not knowing the next step and afraid to achieving goals on a daily, passing the bar, opening a business or something as simple as finishing your first painting has a few blank spaces.
The career version of going from Notty to Hotty!
Between these two lives is a bridge full of opportunities, hurdles, obstacles and toxic people who will hold you back and when you learn qualities that will make you pass every test along the way – to reach the end of the road where you’ve achieved them all.
And because of those repeated tasks due to the skills you used, they’ve already become habits. This strengthens you to achieve those goals and the moment you do, you have been given the girl boss honor badge.
These skills or qualities require intention and conscious effort to work.
And most of all, consistency.
12 Great Habits of the Most Successful People (Girl Bosses)
Girl boss habit #1: Waking up early
The secret of every successful person in the world is waking up early, no self-help book written by millionaires are anyone that has made it in life that does not mention waking up earlier than usual, mostly 5:00 am. Just as the girl boss adopts it, so should you.
Waking up early is a task definitely, but that’s your most productive time, it’s quiet, dark and there’s hardly anything to distract you, I mean if you’re going to lose sleep it’s not going to be to go on social media or chat, sleep is precious.
Get 1 or 2 tasks, your most important tasks of the day and do it within the first hours, you’ll get it done faster and better than if you have during the day.
It doesn’t have to be 5:00 am, it could be 5:30 am, or 6:00 am let it be at least an hour before the rest of the world wakes up. You must tailor your morning routine according to your needs. Here’s an amazing morning routine planner to check out.

Girl boss habit #2: Reading
You cannot be successful. You will not be successful without reading books, with reading I mean increasing knowledge, investing in your knowledge.
If you’re not a book person there are videos, coaching seminars, audiobooks, you can find any form of knowledge anywhere, you just have to be intentional about it.
Read to improve yourself, to learn more in your field, to learn about the world, the more you learn the better you get. There’s no staying in one place, you can only move forward or backward.

Girl boss habit #3: Investing in themselves
Investing in yourself means spending time and money on yourself, your wellbeing and everything that matters so you’ll grow as an individual.
Girl boss habit #4: Taking breaks
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy & all play and no work makes Jack a dull boy.
You have to find a balance, sure at the beginning of your success journey, you’ll have to work more but remember to take a break often or at least find small ways to practice self-care or else you could get into burnout and it’s not that easy to recover from.
When everything becomes a task you begin to forget what it was for in the first place and you’ll lose motivation and eventually quit. Here is a self-care routine worksheet for every single month to help you take care of yourself while you work to achieve all your goals.

Girl boss habit #5: Patience
You know work takes time, your future, your goals and dreams can’t happen overnight, if they do then there’s a problem.
Your effort and sweat of a period of time though can hit a mark and then become ‘successful’ overnight. Success is just the event of the goal you want to achieve but the process matters.
Every girl boss learns from every successful person that it may take longer for some than others, when it takes its time you know it’ll be great, it will be hard and you might want to give up, but don’t.
The worst pain comes at 90%, then the success at 97%, everything will happen with time, at the right time. And trust me when it does, it’ll all be worth the wait.
Girl boss habit #6: Self-awareness
Who are you? You must know who you are, know what you are capable of and try to improve it.
You should constantly take self-inventory, review what you’ve achieved so far, and find where your weaknesses lie and try to improve on such areas, that’s how you will grow.
Girl boss habit #7: Goal planning
Unless you have nothing to accomplish then you must have a plan.
A dream, a goal, a vision, is nothing without a plan. Divide your goal into smaller tasks and then you’ll have a plan.
That plan is your road map to success and sticking to its direction is the only path leading to that success.

Girl boss habit #8: Meditation
Meditation is more than just breathing, it’s about detaching from this world, connecting with the universe and your inner self, seeing your life from a distance and thinking everything you want into existence.
Girl boss habit #9: Setting priorities
Girl bosses set their priorities right. They now that no matter what they come first, sure family comes first but you can’t give out what you don’t have.
Unless you take care of yourself, it’s not about being selfish, but no one is going to live your life for you.
Then the family is 2nd, then your close friends. And in-between these important things, there is work which you can’t set apart, there’s your community, your duty to others.
The thing is to find a balance to do all of these without forgetting yourself and the things you most care about.
Find what works for you and set your plan according to your priorities because you can’t have it all at the same time.
Girl boss habit #10: Decluttering
An organized place is as a result of an organized mind. As a girl boss, you can’t balance everything if you are all over the place.
Sure there are times you’ll have a lot on your mind, and just like you and other people, when there’s a lot on my mind, I’m messy.
But sometimes I do remember there a world around me and when I do, I declutter and organize everything, as a result, my problems seem less.
You can’t see things clearly when you are messy. Just set a date every week or month depending and declutter your surroundings.

Girl boss habit #11: Managing emotions
Emotions make the world cloudy, when we are sad, depressed or happy we see things differently, try to control your emotions and don’t let them control you, things done out of emotion mostly lead to regret.
Sure you can’t keep bottling up emotions but there are times you just have to pretend you have it all under control so you can actually get it under control.
The best thing is to use both your heart and brain together. That’s how you win.
Here are 3 things to live by:
- Don’t make promises when you’re happy
- Don’t make decisions when you’re sad
- Don’t judge when you are angry.
These are the strongest emotions you possess and doing things under them without thinking can leave you with a lot of regrets.
Girl boss habit #12: Consistency
Consistency is the key to success.
Doing something once doesn’t change anything. Doing things consistently is what reaps results. It’s like building a house of success unless you don’t keep adding blocks, all you’ll have is a wall.
